Last night catching up on Yellowstone. I heard these words. I had to stop and write them down.

I wanted to be able to think about them again, quietly. To write them in my journal. To savour them. For me they struck a cord. Stopping and saving the quote was one of those little moments. When you feel one, it’s like it evokes every other one you have  ever felt. An aura of nostalgia.

Many times I have tried to articulate how I feel at the oceans edge. To put into words the awe of seeing something no one else will ever experience. Shells and sand, gently tumbling in the ripples as they wash over my feet. Only to constantly be replaced. An ever changing background.  I’ve never really been able to give that experience the description that it deserves. But that quote did so perfectly. The words are so beautiful, I’m envious that they are not mine, but grateful to have heard them.

My life is made up of instances. Tiny little snippets of time, fleeting feelings.  They are more than memories, they are sentiments. It’s like the complex data of a computer programme condensed into one word. The feelings evoked by the moments. The little rush of awe, the gentle reminder that this is what life is about.  We become so caught up in the ins and outs of existing that we forget that it’s about the little moments.
