So often we set ourselves up for a fall. We make these grand decisions to bring about change, which don't eventuate, or are short lived.
The problem is we don't allow ourselves to transition into change.
Instead of promising yourself you will exercise every day and eat healthily, starting Monday, set some lil goals that are achievable. Make some changes when you are grocery shopping.
Commit to taking a walk, going for a swim or a bike ride. Start getting up half an hour earlier, give yourself a lil more time to comfortably implement changes, even if it's just preparing a healthy lunch for work.
Sure there are people that make a choice and go all in, if that works for them, that's great. But often when we set ourselves goals that are not realistic, so we fail to follow through.
Even when it comes to big life changes, implementing small changes along the way to ready yourself might be the difference needed to suceed.
The important thing is that you are consciously trying to make changes that will be better for you in the long run.
It might be as simple as eating better, or as complex as giving up an addiction.
Regardless of the goal, be kind to yourself, don't let the disappointment of failure derail you. Don't give up, start over and praise yourself for trying.
There are no limits on how often you get to try again.
