Todays thoughts …

Yes these thoughts were prompted by the reaction the world had to Rachel Gunn, after her performance at the 2024 Paris Olympics. But it’s more about a reoccurring feeling. A feeling of disappointment, hurt and maybe even shame. Disappointment that people collectively think that attacking and ridiculing another person, any person is ok.

Hurt because I can only imagine how she might be feeling. That, people can’t comprehend that what they are doing to another human, is distressing to me.

She proudly partook in something she was passionate about. Clad in her Aussie assigned olympic uniform (for which she was ridiculed and mocked), on a world stage, and gave it her all. Forget the how’s, why’s and, the the politics, she’s a fucking person. The best moment of her life, reduced to the worst.

Sometimes I’m ashamed to be part of a race where the majority are happy to willingly partake in mass humiliation. A heard mentality bolsted by a common theme - lack of compassion. It genuinely hurts my heart.

And it’s not just about her, she is just the latest victim. It’s a continuous cycle.

Daring to voice these thoughts, are met with staunch yea buts and justifications of why it is acceptable. You could argue the point till blue in the face but it falls on deaf ears. Ultimately I come away feeling defeated, questioning the fabric of existence. A heavy ol statement to throw into the mix, but it’s how it all makes me feel. It’s bullying, led by adults, yet if the offenders were outwardly accused of such, they would become, defensive, refuting that the detractor is just a snowflake, that needs to harden up.

How did kindness get to be the minority?. It’s a hard thing to wrap your head around.

The only way for people to understand what they are participating in, would be for them, a loved one, or someone they admire to be the target. Then it would be a completely different narrative. Unjust, cruel, mean spirited.

I know, I know, it’s just another topic that I continue to bang on about, but how can I not. If I don’t at the very least voice my unwillingness to accept this type of heartless mentality, am I not just a silent participant, part of the problem. A problem that has/is destroying humanity.
