Just a memory…

When I think back 40 years, I remember a world that felt safer. You could walk at night without a second thought. You didn’t lock every door, check every shadow, or live with the constant hum of fear. It wasn’t perfect, of course, but it was different. Lighter.

Now it feels like the world has shifted, violence, hatred, suspicion, they’ve all become so common that safety feels like a luxury, not a given. I don’t understand how we got here. How did we go backwards instead of forwards? Weren’t we supposed to progress, to evolve into something better.

I feel sad for those that never got to experience that type of freedom, safety, lightness.

Watching a world that should have grown kinder, safer, more connected, deteriorate as it has is hard to comprehend, hard to watch and hard to accept.
