I really don’t understand how anyone can look at the way women are treated and still wonder why so many women are angry.
Abuse has become so normalised that sometimes the reaction to it is almost more disturbing than the abuse itself. A woman can be assaulted, humiliated, traumatised, and somehow people still manage to turn their attention back onto her. Who was she? What was she doing? Why was she there? What was her name?
What part of any of that matters, and as for her name. Shouldn’t we be naming the 7 men, so that anybody that knows them or comes into contact with them can protect themselves.
There is something inherently wrong with a culture that keeps demanding explanations from women while finding endless ways to soften, excuse or distract from the behaviour of men who harm them.
I found this video really powerful because it reinforced the only part that matters. And sometimes the most powerful response is the simplest one.
Stop asking the victim to explain herself, and start asking why the perpetrators felt entitled to do what they did. How do 7 fucking men agree to do this ?!!!
