It’s not ok.,,

I waited a day, just to take it all in.
I have to confess that after watching the Donald Trump assassination attempt, I was sure it was just a publicity stunt. Then a few hours later it was reported that there were two deaths, so you have to rethink.
Obviously any loss of life is a tragedy, did that fact change my initial thoughts? I want to say yes, but I’m still unsure.
Imagine a world where you would still be unsure even with casualties.
Of course the memes started within an hour and social media was awash with an array of division peppered with the usual vile vitriol. The fact that ‘how could you miss’ was trending is detriment to just how desensitised people have become.
I wouldn’t think of myself as a conspiracy theorist, mainly because what we have thought to be conspiracies in the last few years have actually turned out to be true. So to consider the theories has become critical thinking.
There are a lot of questions being asked.
President Trump commented that he finds it incredible that this could happen.
But not if you consider the facts - local and federal law enforcement didn't secure an elevated rooftop 130m away from where the rally stage was. Bystanders at a cookout were trying to alert the secret services to a shooter on a roof. Former US snipers are speaking of the lack of security for such a small venue. No drones?
Those would seem like some major security lapses.
The whole scene seemed somewhat subdued for what was unfolding.
I’m not suggesting anything here, just an observation of the lack of chaos for 9 shots being fired into a crowd. With no knowledge of how many assailants there were at the time, you would think people would have been ducking for cover. Having said that I realise it’s easy to make armchair assumptions. So I don’t give those thoughts any credibility, I wasn’t there. They are just personal observation, that hold no weight.
It’s my hope that no one would go to the lengths of taking lives to gain the upper hand. Yet as I wrote that I realised the absurdity and naivety of my words.
There are a lot of fanatacists in the world, so that it happened is not such a stretch. Given the former Presidents panache for rallying an audience, it is surprising that this type of act has not occured before now. Surely President Trump must take some accountability for the political violence that he has personally unleashed and encouraged.
No, I don’t think an assassination attempt is a fair exchange, but at what point is his behaviour not the catalyst for violence.
Do I personally like him, no. Do I wish him harm, no. Does my opinion matter, no.
One thing is for sure, regardless of what side of anything you stand on, what happened, as with a lot of other things that happened/are happening, it’s apparent that nothing is ok. It would seem that the world is on fire. No one is in charge, and people are fanning flames.
