It’s more than a look…

I’ve been pretty upfront about my thoughts on Kim K & Kanye. There’s no malice there, I just appreciate that Karma settled the Taylor Score. Sounds so incredibly high school, but it’s not. There’s no pettiness, it’s just a life lesson. We got to see karma play its hand, and that’s a rarity.

These pictures from the Met Gala are doing the rounds today. I get the hype of having to one up everyone, the shock value, the staying relevant. But it feels like this outfit crossed a line. This woman is seen as a fashion icon. And to be fair she looks absolutely gorgeous. I love the look, but the corsetry in my unimportant (Kim’s people won’t be reaching out to me) opinion is too far. Sure it got the recognition, it’s a talking point, she resembled a dishevelled sleeping beauty. But someone drew sleeping beauties waist. Kim is standardising this look. Yet it’s not a look to simply be replicated, this is completely outside the normative reality of fashion.

Surely this is not the perception of body image that should be promoted, it’s more than a look, it’s unobtainable without extreme body modification.

The Kardashians may very well be a family of strong accomplished women but are they role models or are they green lighting body dysmorphia?.
