Is this really the state of the world?…

I scrolled past a meme today, the president talking about loving the “smell of deportations.” The comments were colourful and full of disdain. One was a cartoon of Pooh and Piglet casually wishing for his death. And the thing is, it’s not unusual. People openly wait for a leader to die like it’s the next plot twist.
Is this even real? One of the most powerful men on earth is speaking in slogans that sound like war-film parodies, and the public response isn’t outrage anymore, it’s memes, sarcasm, death jokes, as if that’s just the natural next headline.
What’s scary is how normal it’s all become. Deportations turned into punchlines. Wishing for death tossed out casually, as if it might set us free. It’s not healthy, but it does show how powerless people feel.
Maybe this is what happens when power and absurdity collide for too long, people stop reacting, and start playing along with the theatre.
And maybe that’s the saddest part. People feel so helpless that sharing a meme feels like some type of action.
