I’ve done this before, so I know how it goes. A basket of freshly picked mulberries, the perfect flavour and colour, and bursting with antioxidants. It’s her favourite jam, and if I do say so myself I am a connoisseur in the art of jam making. I’m also an accomplished herbalist, published in fact.
The mulberries, so juicy, plump and tender. Especially the black ones with their intensely sweet flavour, a little similar to that of raspberries or blackberries. The devils berries also somewhat sweet, but it’s the added root of the plant that gives it that finishing touch. These two berries together, complement each other perfectly.
I like to make sure that she has the jam each morning on her toast, which isn’t much of a problem as she is a creature of habit. This is often enough for the devils berries to work their magic. They contain tropane alkaloids, which are known to induce symptoms of hysteria, hallucinations, unpredictable behaviour, and delirium.
So it shouldn’t be too much longer before she finally reaps what she sowed.
I must think about compiling my recipes, such a waste not to share one’s knowledge.
